How We Met
May 31, 2010 - Josh was at a BBQ and was told to invite friends; "the more the merrier," they said. So he texted his friend Lindy, who in turn invited Rachel to join her. Having nothing better to do (since she was spending the day packing to move the next day) and eager to leave the apartment, Rachel agreed to tag along. She threw on a blue dress, the one not-yet-packed item she had, and got into her friend's car.
On the way over, Lindy told Rachel that there were DOGS at the party, and if she was allergic/not a dog lover, she shouldn't come. Rachel wanted desperately to turn back, but instead, took a deep breath, and pretended to be totally cool with the dogs... even as she spent the entire party having her toes licked by four-legged creatures. (Josh's note: adorable, friendly four-legged creatures!)
Meanwhile, Josh was totally smitten with Rachel - she was cute, smart, Jewish (a rabbi, even!), and, he assumed, a dog lover! Soon after leaving, Rachel told the friend that brought her to the party that, yes, she was interested... was Josh?
Turns out, he was! Lindy received a text from Josh moments later, asking for Rachel's number. The pair chatted by email and phone for the next couple days, and then Rachel invited Josh for their first date that Friday night: a potluck dinner at Rachel's synagogue. Not exactly romantic, particularly since it involved about 40 other people - but Josh hung in there! Despite the setting, sparks flew, and soon after there was a second date (and a 3rd and a 4th and...) and the rest is history.
